SHARKS IN THE WATER
© Cynthia Hilts 1998
I dream myself half-empty
Half-empty in a pale green-glass sea
I dream myself refreshed
Floating, divided, partial
Half-empty
I don't trust a thing, there's sharks in the water
I can see them playing in the clear pale green
What are they doing there? Just swimming, I guess
They're just there (it's a dream) seven sharks, sporting sharks
I'm just here (it's a dream) broken driftwood to hold me
On my way to some surprise dream salvation
Just a dream, and I'm talking to myself
Just a dream, I'm gonna save myself
Just a dream, I am divided from myself
But yeah, it's a dream
So I come back and rescue me, myself
Are those sharks thinking they wanna tear me up?
They look big as magic in the glassy pale green
Well at least they haven't noticed me yet (it's a dream)
At least I'm not wounded (it's a dream) or bleeding yet
On my way to some impossible dream salvation
Dream One : I dream myself right past those sharks
The fear leaves just a tiny trace
Dream Two : I dream myself some extravagant scar
The shock on a new lover's face
Dream Three : I dream myself floating in pieces
I dream myself divided from myself
I dream myself floating in pieces
Through the clear pale salty green sea
I am divided from myself
But yeah, it's a dream
So I come back and rescue me, myself
Half-empty
I dream myself partially devoured
I dream myself refreshed
I dream myself floating
Half empty as pale green glass sea
Half empty
