Jazz musicians all over the world are likely to be aware of drummer Gene Jackson's talent and expressive performances.He has played with Kevin Eubanks, Dianne Reeves, Christian McBride, Hugh Masekela, Cyrus Chestnut, Greg Osby, Terence Blanchard, Andrew Hill, George Coleman, Steve Turre, Chico and Von Freedman, Don Patterson, Elvis Costello, Art Farmer, Mark Ledford, James Williams, Carla Cook, Craig Harris, Dave Kakowski, Conrad Herwig, Gonzalo Rubalcaba, Claudio Roditi, Donald Brown, Joe Lovano, Billy Childs, Joe Locke, Craig Handy, Michele Rosewoman, The Scream Headless Torsos , Anthony Cox, Lonnie Plaxico, Steve Slagle , and The NDR Big band, to name a few.
Jackson has toured extensively with Herbie Hancock and Wayne Shorter with Dave Holland.He became a member of Michele Rosewoman's Quintessence, Robin Eubanks Mental Images Group, Jorge Sylvester's Music Collage, Carla Cook and The Mingus Big Band. His recording with Christof Lauer's in 2000 was the Number 1 jazz record in Germany. Gene also recorded with Sam Newsom, Conrad Herwig, Alex Sipiagen, J.D. Allen, and Orrin Evans.
Lisa Parrott - bari, alto, soprano saxes
Lisa came to New York in 1993 on an Australian government grant to study with Steve Coleman. She has performed with such great musicians as -Dave Brubeck, Diane Schuur, Gregory Hines, Rachel Z, Cindy Blackman, Gunther Schuller, Clifford Barbaro, Denis Charles, DIVA, Rob Reddy's Horn Choir, Kit McClure Big Band, the Jimmy Heath Big Band and the Jimmy Dorsey Big Band. She has toured with the cream of Australia's ensembles, including John Pochee's Ten Part Invention, Paul Grabowsky's Australia Art Orchestra, Lloyd Swanton's The Catholics, James Morrison's Big Band, Mara Kiek Quartet and Jackie Orszacksky. She has performed frequently at International Festivals since 1987
Lisa has received two Australia Council for the Arts grantsand appeared numerous times on television and in magazines including Downbeat, CMJ Music magazine, Billboard, Vogue (Australia), Dolly and Australian Jazz and Blues.
Lisa currently plays the baritone saxophone chair in DIVA, is a writer and arranger for the Kit McClure Big Band, leads her own trio, and is teaching and freelancing in New York City.

James Stewart - baritone & soprano saxes
James Stewart was born Feb 24, 1957 in Trenton, New Jersey. At age nine he began his musical studies on the violin, however at age twelve he switched to the clarinet, and later the alto saxophone. In high school he began to study with Mr. Tom Gryce, the younger brother of the world famous saxophonist Gi Gi Gryce. By age sixteen he began playing the tenor saxophone and flute, and started playing in local bands in and around Trenton. He later received a Bachelor of Arts Degree in Music Education at New Jersey City University in 1980. James has also studied with saxophonist Jimmy Anderson (Woody Shaw's Teacher), Bill Phipps, and William Cody.
Jack Walrath - trumpet
Jack Walraths talents have been utilized by Charles Mingus, Mike Clark, Ray Charles, Muhal Richard Abrams, Ricky Ford, Sam Rivers, Joe Morello, Charli Persip, Miles Davis, Quincey Jones, Ray Anderson, George Gruntz, Paul Jeffrey, Gunther Schuller, Hal Galper, the Monk Tentet, Bobby Watson, et al. He has appeared in films, TV and Radio both as a sideman and leader since 1965. He has released 22 record albums as a leader. In addition he has appeared on countless albums with others (all of the above as well as Lou Rawls, Richie Cole, the Jazz Tribe, Joe Lovano, the WDR Big Band, and Jamaaladeen Tacuma to name a few). He teaches Master classes, clinics and residencies in the US and abroad.
Walrath has composed, arranged and played with Mingus, Red Rodney, Ira Sullivan, Cecil Brooks III, the Brooklyn Symphony Orchestra, WDR, NDR, UMO Orchestra, Catania City Jazz Orchestra, Charli Persip Superband, Upper Austrian Jazz Orchestra. He's written soundtracks for "Homicide" and Bill Cosby. In addition to leading his own jazz groups, THE JACK WALRATH GROUP , WHOLLY TRINITY, HARD CORPS, THE MASTERS OF SUSPENSE, he was also leader of the MINGUS DYNASTY and THE CHARLES MINGUS BIG BAND. Jack has received many composition and performance grants and been commissioned for virtually every instrumental combination from symphony orchestra to solo piano. And he has written liner notes, articles and columns and been featured as an artist in most major jazz publications.
Deborah Weisz - trombone
From playing in the Sahara Desert with Roswell Rudd's Trombone Shout Band, to creating music in a grain silo, and touring all over the world with Frank Sinatra; trombonist, and award-winning composer, Deborah Weisz's life in music has been filled with diversity. Originally from Chicago (living in New York since 1993); Deborah performs a variety of music work: Broadway shows, chamber & orchestral groups, recording work for TV/Film, the big bands of Jimmy Heath & DIVA, small jazz ensembles with artists such as Freddie Hubbard, and her own
jazz quintet - with whom she released her 2nd CD Grace in 2005. Jazz pianist/composer Jim McNeely writes about Grace, "Deborah Weisz has developed a personal voice as both trombonist and composer/arranger... she makes a powerful statement on the potential of modern small-group jazz." As a composer: received grants/commissions from the NEA and NEFA/Meet the Composer. As a teacher: Rutgers University (2002 - 04), faculty member of the NY Pops Educational Programs since 1994, teaches privately out of her NYC studio, and guest artist/clinician at various schools/camps across the U.S.
Lily White - alto, tenor, soprano saxes
Saxophonist Lily White is one of the most promising and engaging musicians on the New York jazz scene, with her sunny personality and the sharp wit of her playing. She has worked with Mario Bauza and his Afro-Cuban jazz orchestra, master organist Jimmy McGriffs quartet, Jay McShann, Dizzy Gillespie, and Celia Cruz, Anthony Braxton and Roscoe Gordon.
Since the release of her CD Somewhere Between Truth and Fiction on Knitting Factory Works, her band has played all over Europe. She has received grants and funding from National Endowment for the Arts, Mid-Atlantic Arts Foundation, Lila Wallace foundation and Meet the Composer. James Zollar - trumpet
James Delano Zollar began his musical career at age 9 playing bugle in his hometown, Kansas City Missouri. At 12, he graduated to the trumpet where he began to discover his musical voice and focus. After high school he continued to study at San Diego City College and then the University of California at San Diego. At the same time he honed his chops with various funk and jazz bands and lead his own straight-ahead quintet. __In 1972, Zollar moved to San Francisco and he studied with the great jazz trumpet player Woody Shaw to study jazz improvisation.__In, 1984, he moved to New York City and played with the Cecil McBee Quintet for five years and then recorded with Tom Harrell, with Weldon Erving and Sam Rivers. Zollar was featured in Robert Altmans motion picture Kansas City, in Madonnas music video My Babys Got a Secret, as well as Malcolm Lees film The Best Man. He played on the sound truck of The Perez Family and is proud to be included in The Biographical Encyclopedia of Jazz (Oxford University Press 1999.). James was also a featured soloist with Jon Faddis and Carnegie Hall Jazz Orchestra as well as Wynton Marsalis and The Lincoln Center Jazz Orchestra.__ He remains New York based where he stands out in a wide range of musical settings. Today, hes playing with The Duke Ellington Orchestra, working with several of Don Byrons Bands, and also working with NYC Blues Devil.
Philip Solomon - voice
Philip Solomon covers a wide variety of vocal styles : R & B, rock'n'roll, jazz, pop and reggae. He's strong and true in the traditions and breaks down style barriers like the cutting edge original that he is.
He led the band, Afro Twisto, as singer, songwriter, lyricist and first guitar. He has performed his own music solo and with his band. He is contributing composer, vocalist and guitarist for the international trio Afrimerique. He sings and records with Evans Thompson's "True Story". He also performs with FBI (Female Bureau of Investigation), Cincha, Uber Baby, Mary Magdalene, Second Hand Smoke, Lodestone, and recorded " 'Bout Time" with Bobby Bell.
Philip has played many great venues including Merkin Hall, the Bitter End, Nuyorican Poet's Cafe, Max's Kansas City, Trax, Great Gildersleeves, CBGB's, Mudd Club, Home Bar, and Piggy's in Cape Cod. He has also performed voiceovers, acting and photographic roles.
